Tonight I’m talking about a few of my all time favorite things: cobalt blue, maxi dresses, and halter style necklines.
Ok so first. Obviously cobalt blue is a favorite (hockey), but this color is major this spring and summer and I love this pretty white floral print.
Furthermore, the maxi is like the spring and summer’s equivalent of the winter hoodie: you want to look your cutest without thinking too much about it. And you want to be cool and breezy. (And let’s be honest maybe wait another day to shave your legs. I can’t be the only one!)
Finally, the halter-style neckline is the most flattering for me personally. It elongates your arms for a feminine look. This dress is actually a typical spaghetti strap style but I had it altered to have the straps cross in the back so it became halter style! It’s all about finding what’s right for you.
This maxi is lined to just above the knee and sheer to the bottom, making it extra breezy. When I wore this dress it was 95 degrees in Tampa so you know it’s battle tested for the HEAT. Ugh, it’s only April…
I paired my blue maxi with this darling Steve Madden bag that I just cannot get enough of. I regularly plan looks around it and get compliments EVERYWHERE I go. It was a little bit of a splurge (as far as novelty clutches go at least) but the good news is there’s SO many fun and colorful options for spring and summer at all price points. But if you go with this blue one, you won’t be disappointed!
I was talking to a friend who says she “hates” maxi dresses and I was SO perplexed!? How can someone feel so strongly about something that’s essentially a fashion forward nightgown? Haha. I guess they’re not everyone’s cup of tea, but you’ll see me in a lot of them this season. What do y’all think? Do you love a good maxi as much as me?
I linked this look for less cobalt blue Target maxi below. Let me know what you think!

Hi friends! As you know, gingham is a HUGE trend this season. This old school picnic blanket print is showing itself on skirts, tops, and even shoes! This OTS (off the shoulder) top is a great mix of whimsy, trendy, and a little peak of flirty. I know you see the pom-pom detail on the sleeves! *heart eyes*
This top also comes in a light pink/white gingham which I may just need to go back and get. I LOVE this top with cutoffs and white denim, but for today’s look I paired my gingham with slashed up black denim and a pop of color with this amazing baublebar piece.
I wore this look shopping and to lunch but it’d be great for all the fun spring and summer music festivals too!
This top is a total steal at $35, and my necklace will go with everything you’re wearing this summer and it’s under $35! I’ve linked the entire look below, or shop it on the “shop my instagram” tab up top!
Well, it’s spring time which only means one thing…time to break out my glue gun! I’m not sure why but when April hits I feel inspired to recreate what’s trending. Unless you’ve been living under a pom-pomless rock, you know that tassels, pom-poms, and fun embellishments are a MUST for spring & summer. If you scored yourself some great embellished accessories last year, you’re in luck! You can break those babies out again and be perfectly on trend.
I was on the Baublebar website last week and found the most perfect beach/pool tote covered in big ole fun pom-poms. I couldn’t even hit “add to cart” fast enough…except it was sold out. And also $80, which in hindsight means I probably would have kept it in my online cart just long enough before I finally remembered I do not need to spend $80 on a beach tote. I would though. Let’s just put that out there.. 😛So with that, the idea to break out my glue gun was born! I grabbed this super cute beach tote at Target for $29.99 and the pom-poms were $4 a bag (but I had a coupon!) The total for this DIY was about $37! (I already had the glue gun/glue).
Lay the beach tote on a flat surface and put a piece of cardboard inside the bag to keep the glue from seeping into the other side. I used all large sized pom-poms for the first 2 rows and the medium sized for the bottom row.
Once your glue gun is ready to go, the fun starts! Glue your poms in any design/pattern you wish! I chose to keep mine pretty similar to the inspo bag. After gluing, press pom-pom down firmly with two fingers for about 20-30 seconds to ensure the glue adheres.
I wish I could tell you there was more to it, but that’s it! Lay your fab new bag flat to ensure glue completely dries, remove cardboard, and head straight to the beach! I promise you’ll get LOTS of compliments and “where did you get that?”‘s.

As I explained in my previous post, I’m *really* into florals for spring, but I’m trying to find pieces that have a unique spin on the traditional flower pattern and this bow front blouse fits the bill.
It has a really unique color palette of ivories and yellows with a babydoll fit and large bow at the waist.
It’s incredibly flattering! It also closes with 2 buttons in the back, leaving the rest of your back open to the breeze. This is an on-trend feature but wearing a bra can be tricky so I’d recommend stick-on petals for this blouse.
Unfortunately I cannot find this blouse on Forever 21’s website anymore (bummer!) BUT I was recently at my local store and saw it there. I did link a similar style with the exact same print. Shop that below!
I paired this admittedly sexy blouse with…cargo pants! Maybe not something someone would associate with a “sexy/date night” type of blouse but these pants are SO flattering and fun and a great alternative to denim. They have great details and look way pricier than they are. I linked these exact pants below!
My husband and I shot this look on the roof of our building and every time we’re up there we both agree we don’t enjoy it enough. Such a beautiful spot!

There’s nothing I love more than turning the corner on the hot summer and seeing a glimpse of fall on the horizon! For Floridians, this usually means fall fashion arrives in stores and on covers of magazines. Hey, I’ll take whatever glimpse I can get! I love fall!
Nautical stripes are a summer wardrobe staple, and this year stripes are a big fall trend, too. The lace up detail of this dress makes it perfectly on-trend while the stripes keep it classic and chic. This dress is great on it’s own for summer (see look below), but I was so excited to layer it under my fave new denim jacket and chilly-er weather accessories that I chose to sweat myself to death for this look! 😉 *worth it!*
This dress would look great with tights and boots or under a long fisherman cardi. The fall looks are endless with this classic piece!
You can shop this dress directly through the Rustic Bow Boutique instagram here!
Helloooo! (In my best Mrs. Doubtfire voice)
It has been a week in the Driscoll household. It started with a 3 day weekend and mini road trip to visit my family and celebrate both of my nephews birthdays, and ended with the stomach bug, cancelled plans, and a whole lotta Lysol. Just when you make plans, life comes along and says NOPE! But thankfully my sweet husband has fully recovered from that nasty, nasty bug going around.
Anyway, I’m happy to be back to regularly scheduled life and talking about fashion! Spring is officially upon is in the sunshine state. Spring training is here, allergies too (haha). In all honesty it’s beautiful in Florida right now and I’m so excited about spring fashion this season!
This easy weekend look is more of a classic than a trend, but it’s so easy yet garners a ton of compliments, so that’s automatically a win/win! This t-shirt dress has a loose fit, so if you want more structure I recommend going a size down, as I did here. (I also bought this dress in solid gray at my regular size for a looser fitting silhouette.)
I paired the dress with some funky sequin Converse because I LOVE the dress and sneakers movement, and a straw Bermuda hat, which is VERY on trend for the spring and summer. This bag is reversible (!!) and I snagged it on sale for $15! I’m currently using it as a work bag, but on this day I used it at the Sarasota farmers market and it made holding lots of small things a breeze!
The great news is, ALL of these items are still available! Shop each of them in the links below. Looking to dress up this t-shirt dress for a fun weekend night out? Pair it with some ankle booties and layered necklaces!
What’s your go-to “weekend uniform”? I work in a business casual setting, where jeans and t-shirts are a definite no-no, so on weekends I love pulling out my fave denim or a cute dress with sneakers like this!

Hi friends! Happy Monday!
I’m excited to bring you today’s post because I LOVE this 70’s trend, I love this outfit, AND I HAVE NEW HAIR!!! If you couldn’t tell, I’m very excited. 😉
Quick backstory: For those who don’t know this about me, I get bored with my hair SO easily. I used to change the color just about every time I went into the salon, but I never kept a certain color for longer than a few months. Well, until I discovered my Aveda stylist and fell in love with my current blonde “subtle ombre”! I also think keeping one cohesive hair color is more professional for my job, and blonde hair just seems to suit me best. But I’ve also had the same hairstyle FOREVER, until last Friday when my stylist Janelle suggested I jump on board the “long bob” train. At first I was completely against it, but as she continued on trimming “the bare minimum” I’d requested, I got to thinking how bored I was with my hair, and how much I admire the “lob” style on others. I asked a few other questions and then shouted “JUST DO IT!” The rest is history. I had about 6 inches (!!) cut off to reveal this awesome, asymmetrical long bob. It took a few hours until I loved it, but after about 72 hours, my hair and I are totally in love. I can’t wait to style it all different/funky/fun ways! I also think it looks so much more fashion forward and polished!
So happy I jumped out of my comfort zone on this one.
Anyway, onto this look!
The 70’s are a huge influence on this season’s hottest trends, and this look is no different! This boho blouse from Target is billowy and rather unflattering (on me) un-tucked, but tuck it into some high-waist jeans (extra bonus for some sailor-inspired button details!) and VOILA! It’s one of my favorite tops at the moment. This is proof you should try things on and think about how you actually want to wear it before saying yes or no!
These jeans from NY&Co are flattering and the most comfortable denim I own! They are my first pair of jeans from this brand (SoHo for NY &Co), but I am pleasantly surprised!
These brown faux-suede lace up flats (new from Target!) are satisfying my never ending appetite for lace up flats! I seriously can’t get enough and I’m sure you can tell. As a “flats only” girl, these shoes check off all the style boxes for me. They’re cute, versatile, comfortable, fashion forward, and flat! And at $25 I really could not resist.
The great news is, all these pieces are new & still available! I’ve linked them all below, including my Steve Madden clutch. The 70’s was all about fun colors and patterns, billowy silhouettes, and unique details. <– All of these things are swoon-worthy to me so…sign me up for more 70’s inspired looks!
So, going back to my “new me” haircut, I’d love to hear what changes you’ve made, whether big or small, to give your confidence a little boost!? What do you do for you to feel your best? What do you think of my new hair? 🙂
