Coming at ya with a lil instagram roundup for the last week! I guess I’m not the only one LOVING all things off the shoulder because so many of you have been asking me how to buy these 2 tops!
First off, this lemon print is everything. I can’t tell you the last time I purchased anything at Forever 21 but when I saw this top I gave it a try and I’m so glad I did (I actually purchased 4 other things, so clearly they’re doing better lately in my eyes!)
The fabric is really soft and this OTS actually stays off the shoulder…which is great.
It has a great fit and an elastic waist so you could easily wear it with more of a crop top style.
For reference I’m wearing a regular size L. Unfortunately the regular sizes don’t show up online anymore so your best bet is in the store…but if you’re my size you could totally get away with the “plus” sized version in the smallest size.
Second look of this insta roundup is arguably my husband’s favorite. It just screams “date night!” This top from Nordstrom zips up the back with a built in corset style bra. The sleeves hang dramatically off the shoulder for a unique, definitely more sexy look. A look like this typically takes me outside of my comfort zone, but it’s casual enough it can be dressed up or down. I’d LOVE this with white denim, too. I just might do that next time! I wore this to dinner on a Friday night and got a ton of compliments from strangers and my husband. 🙂
Let me know what your favorite spring trends are!
Do you love all things off shoulder like me?
Until next time!
Love & Light,
My look: tee, Adidas (sold out); shoes, Adidas (current); pants Zella (current); jacket Express (current)
This outfit started yesterday when I was scouring Nordstrom for the last time during their Anniversary Sale. I’d been eyeing the all-white Adidas Superstar’s since the pre-sale, but hadn’t pulled the trigger in time and they were consistently sold out in my size since. I asked to try on the black & white version (the all white wasn’t even on display anymore), when the salesman came out with a few boxes and said they were sold out of the black/white in my size, “but they did have…these”. “THESE” were the all white version!! It was fashion kismet, and like Cinderella they slipped onto my feet as if they were made for them, and the rest is fashion history.
Ok, it’s dramatic. But we’ve all had moments like those. And I’ll do anything to include Cinderella into a post!
I’ve had this Adidas graphic tee for a few months now. It’s gotta be one of my favorite purchases ever. It was limited edition (also from Nordstrom) which feels special, but I love the color and floral pattern so much. It’s just one of those fun pieces that gets a conversation going wherever you wear it.
These leggings are from the Nordstrom sale as well. They’re no longer available in navy but I linked to similar black ones. They’re still on sale until the end of the day! (Sunday 8/7!)
I am a BIG fan of the athleisure movement. The key to achieving this look without looking like you are wearing pajamas/should be at the gym is mixing athletic pieces with staple wardrobe pieces, like my cropped denim jacket: without it, this outfit is decidedly too casual and doesn’t really work. The definition of athleisure really is a mixture of athletic pieces with fashion that combine to be a leisurely fashion look that’s anything but relaxed. Another great athleisure look is combining a chunky sweater with pants like mine and strappy heels..if you dare;)
Dress: Rustic Bow Boutique (current); jacket: Express (current); hat, shoes: Target (current); bag: Nordstrom (current)
There’s nothing I love more than turning the corner on the hot summer and seeing a glimpse of fall on the horizon! For Floridians, this usually means fall fashion arrives in stores and on covers of magazines. Hey, I’ll take whatever glimpse I can get! I love fall!
Nautical stripes are a summer wardrobe staple, and this year stripes are a big fall trend, too. The lace up detail of this dress makes it perfectly on-trend while the stripes keep it classic and chic. This dress is great on it’s own for summer (see look below), but I was so excited to layer it under my fave new denim jacket and chilly-er weather accessories that I chose to sweat myself to death for this look! 😉 *worth it!*
This dress would look great with tights and boots or under a long fisherman cardi. The fall looks are endless with this classic piece!
You can shop this dress directly through the Rustic Bow Boutique instagram here!
Top: Target (old); Shorts: NY & Company (current); Sandals: Target (current)
I am absolutely loving these fun printed shorts! I spotted these a few weeks ago and filed them away in my brain, not even giving them a second look. Then I was checking out some fellow bloggers and the posts I seemed to enjoy most were the ones with fun summer prints! Lemons, watermelon, and now..zebras! 😉
Before we get further into the zebras, I need to rave about these shorts in general. I have never been a huge fan of wearing shorts. Since losing weight I’ve fully embraced summer and have actually looked forward to dressing my body for the hot weather rather than sweating in layers to avoid showing my body. But I’m still new to shorts. Or at least, feeling good wearing them.
These are the NY&Co 4″ shorts, and they come in lots of colors, styles, and fabrics. Just a heads up if you’re looking for a well-made pair of shorts that aren’t TOO short or too long!
Since the shorts are the main focal point of this look, I kept the rest as simple as possible with a button down denim chambray shirt and the most comfortable black gladiator sandals!
To me these shorts have a very high end look without the high end price point. For me, when I’m buying something as trendy as these, I don’t like to spend a ton of money, and these are a great deal! You’ll definitely be noticed wearing these this summer!
*Zebras are also the “mascot” for EDS awareness, a disorder that’s very near to my heart. I have Type A EDS. Learn more about this genetic disorder here.
Today’s look is [accidentally!] a great time to talk about visual interest and texture, and it’s also a great time to talk about transitioning into FALL! [the little fall lover inside me is screaming with excitement!]
First things first, I am LIVING for olive green and I’m so happy it’s carried over into this summer and from what I’ve seen, is still alive & well for this fall & winter. This open crochet top is light and loose, perfect for these oppressive summer temps! I wore it over a matching color tank but it would look SO cute over a bright bralette if you’re feeling like showing more skin..or over your bikini top!
The great thing about the style, color, and texture of this piece is that it will look great in the fall with plaid, layered under a trench vest, or paired with a faux suede moto jacket.
I paired mine with my fave-ever destroyed denim (AE high-waist jeans do NO wrong in my book!) They add even more texture and visual interest to this outfit and pop more than regular jeans. Bonus points for built-in-air vents! 😉
You can shop this exact top and jeans in my new “shopping” tab at the top of the page!
I hope you enjoy this look! Let me know…what are you loving that you’ve seen for fall/winter? It’s never too early to talk about fall fashion!!
Confession: I’ve had this palm tree dress in my closet for a year! I know that’s a sin, blogging about a dress that’s no longer available (boo Blair, boo) BUT I only went forth with this post because palm tree prints are everywhere! Dresses, blouses, pants, even socks! Palm trees are HOT this summer (see what I did there?) 😉
Ugh this print is everything. So versatile and fun, and acts as a neutral so you can punch it up with as many fun accessories as you can pile on. That’s definitely my favorite part of summer fashion…gimme all the colors!
I wore this dress with a fun tassel necklace in bright blue/turquoise, then accessorized with my faaaaave summer piece of ALL TIME, my Merona Target clutch from last summer. I’m only slightly embarrassed to tell you how many Target’s I drove around to until I found it last year. Personally I think they should bring it back. Tassels are bigger than ever!
Add your fave sandal and you’re ready for anything! I wore this running errands and to lunch with friends.
You can totally wear this print to the office, too! Just look for palm trees on a billowy blouse or even a pencil skirt. Just ensure the shape of the garment is professional since the print will be a bit whimsical.
Overall I’m LOVING prints this season and can’t wait to get my hands on more!
I’ve linked similar palm tree dresses below the post, along with a similar clutch, my nail polish, & my sandals! Let me know if you love palm trees enough to rock them (almost) head to toe!
Until next time!
Today’s post is all about Independence Day! I feel like the 4th is a holiday we’ve been “theme dressing” for since we were kids. You know you had the Old Navy “flag tee” every year growing up!
But even after growing out of screen print flags, showing patriotism in your #ootd is as American as well, Americans! 😉
I am no different, I LOVE themes! I still have to stop myself from wearing “ugly” Christmas sweaters every day in December, and cautiously avoid too many hearts (there’s never too many hearts!) in February. But I also realize most fashionistas want to be theme appropriate without wearing a flag on their chest.
These are two looks that are perfect for most anything you could be spending America’s birthday doing. My first look is casual and theme specific *without* any stripes & stars! It’s clear I’m dressed to show my pride in my country but I do so with ripped jeans and lipstick on my shirt 😉
The second look was an amazing find I literally stumbled into at Charming Charlie! I have only shopped there a handful of times and I must have not been paying much attention, because they’ve always had clothes I guess..? I’d truly never noticed until I spotted this beauty! I love the style of this maxi; it’s super flirty and feminine, and flattering on many different body types. It looks more expensive than it was, and I love the white background with the red/blue flowers. It’s definitely strongly hinting at our desired theme but still not hitting you over the head with it.
I love a theme and I love proudly wearing the flag of my country, but when you do so you really limit the use of the item to the 4th and no other time. These looks give you the desired effect and the ability to re-wear all summer!
Shopping links to the items I’m wearing (or similar) below each look. And as a lover of a theme, I’d love to see what you’re rocking on the 4th! Tag me in your insta pics (@blairdriscoll) or comment below!
Until next time!
Coming to you with a little different post this time around. I’ve recently been really into DIY’s! Not just any do-it-yourself projects, specifically on-trend fashion items I can’t see myself investing a whole lot in.
There are 2 items that struck a chord in my Michaels & JoAnne Fabrics loving heart: the VERY hot right now “pom pom tassel sandals” (You know you’ve heard of them/shopped for them/already own a pair) and this baby. This sun hat with a sequin “message”!
Hats like this one are flying off shelves at Anthropologie & Nordstrom. I just checked and they are “backordered” on both sites which wouldn’t be a surprise to me except that THEY’RE REALLY EXPENSIVE. We’re talking, $300-$450. For. a. hat.
I would like to think no matter where I’m at in life, I’d never drop $450 on a straw hat, but hey. I’m a fashion lover and I get it. When something is hot, it’s hot!
What these fine craftsman didn’t realize is that fashionista’s like you and me took one look at that hat and went PSSHHH. I can make this! So let me get you a jump start on it. I’m going to show you how I did it!
I’ve made 3 of these and I can tell what’s worked and what I’d do differently so you don’t have to feel lukewarm about your first attempt lol. Ready? Let’s DIY!
Supplies you’ll need for this DIY:
-a floppy straw hat (this one is from Target)
-a glue gun w/ extra glue sticks (I got mine for SUPER cheap at Michaels!)
-approx 3 yards of “sequin trim” (more or less depending on your message) I got this at JoAnne Fabrics, mine is .5 inch
-a fabric marker (optional..more on this later)
Step #1:prep hat by writing your desired message using the fabric pen* (the reason I say this is optional: after creating 2 of these hats, I realized I almost liked it better when I skipped this step. You can freehand the sequin trim to create your message, too. For those type A’s out there (stand up with me!) I wanted to visualize it before I started gluing, which was my reasoning for using the marker. You can do it either way, just ensure you’re writing large enough/clear/exactly what you want because that baby is permanent!
Step #2: get your (hot) glue on! This is as easy as hot gluing over the marker you just stenciled (or going freehand as described above.) You want to make sure the glue doesn’t have time to dry before you add the sequin trim, so I recommend doing it a letter at a time. After applying the hot glue, apply your sequin trim directly on top, lightly pressing down to adhere.
**HELPFUL HINT** You can choose to cut the sequins after each letter in a word, but what I recommend is doing one continuous span of sequin trim for each word, and only cutting it at the end of the word. This helps the overall look (again, you’re learning from my mistakes!)
Step #3: continue hot gluing sequin trim until your desired message is achieved. Once finished, let dry overnight in a well ventilated area.
Step #4: go out to the pool/beach and SLAY your on-trend sun hat you only paid $25 for!
No, really. That’s it!
This pic is from our Memorial Day weekend trip to Sarasota, where soooo many people asked where they could buy my hat, my husband told me to start taking orders! They couldn’t believe I’d made it, and thus the inspo for this post was born. Puhh-lease don’t pay $100, $200, and definitely not $300 or $400 for this hat when you can customize your own for about an hour of your time and $25!
Please let me know if you enjoy these DIY posts! I will definitely do more if they’re well received! I’m planning a post for my pom-pom sandals so look out for that one soon! 🙂
I really hope I’m not the only one LOVING any/everything off the shoulder this season! (If what’s major this month is any indication, I’m definitely not!)
But truly this is among my favorite looks I’ve ever done. I saw this gorgeous rainbow wall over Memorial Day weekend when traveling with my husband. The fashion blogger in me filed it away and knew I had to come up with an outfit that would work in front of it, and two weeks later this colorful dress walked into my life!
This dress is from The Rustic Bow Boutique, and the price point could NOT be better at $29.50!!(!!!) This online boutique carries a wide variety of pieces, from rompers to dresses to cute graphic tanks. They’re just starting out but are already making waves in the online fashion world. Check out their website at www.therusticbow.com!)
***This post is not sponsored by The Rustic Bow Boutique. I am a paying customer, I’m just a fan!***
I wanted to keep the theme colorful, so I added lots of fun tassel bracelets, two necklaces, and my favorite Target beach bag (shop it here).
I decided to belt my dress (belt does not come with, but there is a tie if you choose to use that) for a more flattering-on-me silhouette, which paired perfectly with my Target faux-suede lace ups. I actually used the ‘tie’ that comes with the dress on my straw hat! 😉
My husband did an amazing job shooting this post, and I’m so happy with how these photos turned out!
If you’d like more details on my dress, you can shop it directly via instagram! I’ve linked it here!
I’d love to hear what you guys think about this look! Too much, or never enough? I love me some COLOR so I say, bring it on! 🙂
Until next time friends!
PS* This post was done one day prior to the tragedy in Orlando, but I couldn’t be prouder to post it now in front of that beautiful, prideful rainbow. Please keep those involved in your thoughts and prayers. #OrlandoUnited
