Today I’m sharing this bright floral look that I will be obsessing over all spring!
This top makes me happy just by looking at it – when I spotted in the store I knew it had to come home with me. It checks off all my “so Blair” boxes: 1. it’s bright pink 2. It’s a punchy floral that gets noticed! (Bonus: it has tassels too!)
This top is more of a “babydoll” style and fits loose all over. I tucked the bottom in a bit to give it a little more shape, but I bought my true size so I could also tuck it into my pencil skirts to make it work appropriate. I also see this top with cutoff shorts for the hottest days of summer!
hahaha. But really. Florals may be “nothing new” but they’re always reimagined and I love the unique graphic nature of this particular top. Old Navy doesn’t always get it right, but they hit a homerun with this one!
This print also comes in a cute ruffle tank and a plus-size dress!
Bright prints aren’t just a favorite outfit piece, but also a major part of my everyday life. Lately I’ve had several people message me about my attitude towards life…which sounds strange to say, but it’s true! And beyond the people who actually asked me how I stay so happy and upbeat, I’m sure there are others that are like :enter rolling eye emoji: at everything I post on social.
The truth is, of course I have my own problems and issues, but over the last year or so I’ve shifted the way I look at things that used to make me fall apart. Staying positive is not only a way of life for me, it’s the only way I feel I can really be successful in life. I decided to share the top 5 ways I try to stay positive each day, in the hopes that you can adapt some (or all!) of these things into your daily routine. And if you have any tips for me, please let me hear them!
1. Turn frustrations into Opportunities
-I have about a 30 minute commute to and from work each day, and sometimes with traffic I end up spending over an hour in my car each workday. I used to let traffic get me so worked up by the time I got home I was NOT a fun person to be around. Finally I just realized that the traffic was going to be there anyway, so I had a choice: I could let it put me in a terrible mood, OR I could make the most of it. Now on the way to work each morning I listen to an inspirational devotional that kicks off my day on the right foot. And on the way home? I usually listen to my favorite music, or sometimes take that time to call a friend or family member and catch up. Other times I plan conference calls during my commute home! Might as well be productive while you’re sitting on the highway, right?
2. Be mindful of what you let into your brain
-Think about watching scary movies. If you watch them right before bed, you’re probably going to have a terrible dream about a flesh eating alien. Why? Your subconscious is thinking about all that craziness. On the same note, putting mean spirited/hateful/ugly things into your head does not make for a positive outlook on life. If you’re constantly around negative people, you’ll start being negative, too. If you’re constantly looking in the mirror thinking you’re anything less than perfect, eventually that is all you will see in yourself. Our brains are amazing, but they eventually repeat what they hear the most!
3. When everything is wrong, find something that’s right
-Look, bad days HAPPEN. It stinks when they do, but they do! Just because you live a positive life does not mean you’re naive to life’s problems and unfortunately it doesn’t mean you won’t have your fair share of conflicts in life. Choosing to live with a positive mindset just means you’re not going to let the bad things take over your brain. This applies to big and small things, and I say it with experience: I’ve been on a dream vacation one minute and in the ICU the next. And yes I cried and said “why me!?” more than once. But I never stopped seeing the good things about life, either. Even then! (Like the awesome nurses who ordered me pizza every night in the hospital because I wouldn’t eat anything else!) If you can be positive during the not-so-great times, the good times will be magnified 10x. Promise. Also, magnify others strengths, not weaknesses. This is about being a light to others as well as for yourself! You never know who needs your light the most, and we truly have NO IDEA what others are going through. So just be kind to each and every person you meet. Find the good, even when it’s hidden.
-I’m a true believer in the power of prayer and y’all, Jesus has shown His favor on my life every single day I’ve been here on this earth. The power of prayer changes things! But even if you are not particularly spiritual, meditating on positive thoughts and breathing deeply really does help. Think about this: is this problem going to matter in: 5 minutes? 5 hours? 5 days? Will this be a big deal next week? Next year? How can I solve this problem so I’m not anxious about it anymore? Clear your mind of negativity and that voice that tells you to panic, and turn it around. Yes it is hard sometimes.
5. Stop finding your worth in what others think
-This is a BIG one for me. It’s not to say I don’t care that others like me, find me valuable, find me funny, or like my outfits. Of course I do. Everyone loves to be liked. No one will honestly tell you they don’t care that others don’t like them. And you should always aim to be a kind, generous, loving, giving person of excellence around everyone you meet. What I mean by this is, be your authentic self, and know that it’s ENOUGH. People will talk about you. It’s so much more about them than you. Distance yourself from people who make you feel bad about yourself; they are not true friends. Love yourself first and treat people the way you’d want to be treated. If they do not treat you the same, that’s ok too. Because you find your worth in yourself, not in what others think. If people talk badly about you, especially about things like your looks/outfit/laugh/work ethic/hair color/political party/etc, it’s most definitely their own insecurities, and really not about you at all. This belief has literally changed my life. I know who I am, and I love who I am. And if not everyone sees how awesome I am, that’s on THEM!
Please please share your tips and tricks for staying positive in the comments below! I’d love to hear!

Thank you so much for reading! Love you all!
Love & Light,
Coming at you with a new look (that I’m obsessed with) and some more insight into my world!
But first…lace bomber jackets.
Y E S.
My friend Damara spotted this at Anthropologie Saturday and as soon as she showed it to me I knew we had to be bomber twins. So I snagged it too. And at over 70% off (!!), it was a MAJOR steal.
The allover lace detail of this bomber is more cool than stuffy, and the fit is boxy and runs larger for an easy fit over everything from a mini dress to a tank.
I opted to wear mine over more lace! This blush cami has just a peek of skin showing through the lace at the top, and has the most flattering cut. It’s another steal at under $18!
I am already thinking of more ways to wear this versatile piece all spring, but I had to start with white rips.
The “priorities” part of this post is the funny part. This shoot was done at 9:30 Sunday morning. After breakfast at my favorite Tampa spot (Oxford Exchange!) and before TWO different sporting events. In the same day. If you follow me on instagram, you already know that craziness.
If you’re reading this you probably already know how much I love sports so I was certainly not dragged to a matinee baseball game and an evening hockey game in the same day. It was actually an amazing day! But just craziness.
And today? Today I worked 10 hours at my “regular” job and about 2 at my “contracting” job, but I couldn’t stop thinking about an outfit in my head that I reeeeally wanted to bring to life. And thanks to daylight saving time, I came home, changed, went back downstairs with the hubbs and shot another outfit before dinner.
Whew! I sometimes don’t know how you ladies do it, but I’m starting to understand.
When you love something, you just make it happen. and I love this! I love my career! I love remembering me & Beyonce have the same amount of hours in each day!
Bottom line is, there’s time if you make it. God put something in my heart that I can’t and won’t ignore and I’m happy I get to devote some of my life to it! Doing the thing that you can’t sleep you’re so excited to do is just awesome.

7.Old Navy fringe scarf: I wore this in my outfit post last weekend and got tons of compliments! It’s the most perfect pink (but comes in other, more subdued shades as well.) It’s the softest fleece, and the fringe is so on-trend!
8. Ombre quilted vest: I saw this vest at Mall of America and had to PRY myself away! (It’s not exactly practical in tropical climates such as mine..but it’s still on my wish list! #slaveforfashion) The metallic ombre is SO gorgeous in person, and you could easily dress this vest up or down.
9. Statement belt: Wear it with bell-bottoms now and shorts later…and basically pass this baby down to your grandchildren, because it’s always going to be fabulous.
10. Sunday Riley “Power Couple”: this skincare line is EVERYTHING and this holiday boxed collection is a great price for 2 amazing products.
11. The cutest phone cases: Casemate makes some amazing cases for iPhones and this new “tough brilliance” collection is awesome because it combines the protection you want (so you don’t do silly things like crack your screen) with gorgeous, girly details!
12. Apple Watch Series 2: For the person you REALLY want to spoil, this timepiece does way more than tell time..and it’s high on my Christmas list!
Today’s post is all about Independence Day! I feel like the 4th is a holiday we’ve been “theme dressing” for since we were kids. You know you had the Old Navy “flag tee” every year growing up!
But even after growing out of screen print flags, showing patriotism in your #ootd is as American as well, Americans! 😉
I am no different, I LOVE themes! I still have to stop myself from wearing “ugly” Christmas sweaters every day in December, and cautiously avoid too many hearts (there’s never too many hearts!) in February. But I also realize most fashionistas want to be theme appropriate without wearing a flag on their chest.
These are two looks that are perfect for most anything you could be spending America’s birthday doing. My first look is casual and theme specific *without* any stripes & stars! It’s clear I’m dressed to show my pride in my country but I do so with ripped jeans and lipstick on my shirt 😉
The second look was an amazing find I literally stumbled into at Charming Charlie! I have only shopped there a handful of times and I must have not been paying much attention, because they’ve always had clothes I guess..? I’d truly never noticed until I spotted this beauty! I love the style of this maxi; it’s super flirty and feminine, and flattering on many different body types. It looks more expensive than it was, and I love the white background with the red/blue flowers. It’s definitely strongly hinting at our desired theme but still not hitting you over the head with it.
I love a theme and I love proudly wearing the flag of my country, but when you do so you really limit the use of the item to the 4th and no other time. These looks give you the desired effect and the ability to re-wear all summer!
Shopping links to the items I’m wearing (or similar) below each look. And as a lover of a theme, I’d love to see what you’re rocking on the 4th! Tag me in your insta pics (@blairdriscoll) or comment below!
Until next time!
Hello friends! It has been *WAY* too long! I feel like I haven’t had a moment to breathe lately, but it’s been wonderful! We’ve been busy celebrating birthdays, baseball season starting, and the kickoff of playoff hockey! (In case you’re new to my life, sports are right up there with fashion to me!)
Luckily, last weekend we had ZERO plans which was great because I finally slept in (!!!), ate lots of yummy food, and did 4 different outfit posts! YAY! I will also tell you these last 4 are up there with my favorites. I’m so excited for you to see!
This particular post didn’t really start out as a planned blog post. I have outfits lined up for the blog a few weeks in advance usually (unless I buy something I’m super excited about and it gets pushed up in the rotation!), but this outfit was not one of them, I just threw it on for a fun Saturday of errands. My sweet husband assumed it was for a fashion post (he’s conditioned lol) and since we’d already done 2 of them, he thought this was #3. And the more I thought about it, the more I agreed! So, here it is!
I’ve worn these jeans on here before and it’s easy to explain why, because I LOVE THEM! I have about 20 pairs of jeans but I always reach for these. The high waist, versatile wash, and ‘tattered but not completely destroyed’ holes are a recipe for favorite denim to me. Also there’s just enough stretch in these to hug your curves with a thick enough fabric to hold everything “in place”. They don’t have this wash online anymore but these are from AE and they are the “high waisted jegging”.
This top is from the Portofino blouse collection at Express, which is another favorite. This post should actually be about holy-grail clothing collections! I love these tops for work. They’re a great pop of trendy color and pattern under a blazer or tucked into a pencil skirt, but they’re great because they work just as well on weekends! I love this fun neon floral motif, too. For weekend I decided to knot it up and make it look a bit more casual. Also I should mention this is the “classic” fit Portofino blouse..they also make a ‘slim fit’ silhouette.
The accessories of this look really deserve a shout out: they are all Old Navy, from the bangles to the bag! I don’t often purchase jewelry at Old Navy but I recently returned something without a receipt and was in a bit of a hurry, so I raided the accessories (they were all 50% off at the time) and I have to say I was pretty impressed! Great on-trend pieces that aren’t super pricey but still pack a punch. This ombre bag gave me ALL the heart eye emojis, and it was even better when I got it to the counter and it rang up $8 (it was marked $35). Don’t y’all love when that happens?!
Helloooo! (In my best Mrs. Doubtfire voice)
It has been a week in the Driscoll household. It started with a 3 day weekend and mini road trip to visit my family and celebrate both of my nephews birthdays, and ended with the stomach bug, cancelled plans, and a whole lotta Lysol. Just when you make plans, life comes along and says NOPE! But thankfully my sweet husband has fully recovered from that nasty, nasty bug going around.
Anyway, I’m happy to be back to regularly scheduled life and talking about fashion! Spring is officially upon is in the sunshine state. Spring training is here, allergies too (haha). In all honesty it’s beautiful in Florida right now and I’m so excited about spring fashion this season!
This easy weekend look is more of a classic than a trend, but it’s so easy yet garners a ton of compliments, so that’s automatically a win/win! This t-shirt dress has a loose fit, so if you want more structure I recommend going a size down, as I did here. (I also bought this dress in solid gray at my regular size for a looser fitting silhouette.)
I paired the dress with some funky sequin Converse because I LOVE the dress and sneakers movement, and a straw Bermuda hat, which is VERY on trend for the spring and summer. This bag is reversible (!!) and I snagged it on sale for $15! I’m currently using it as a work bag, but on this day I used it at the Sarasota farmers market and it made holding lots of small things a breeze!
The great news is, ALL of these items are still available! Shop each of them in the links below. Looking to dress up this t-shirt dress for a fun weekend night out? Pair it with some ankle booties and layered necklaces!
What’s your go-to “weekend uniform”? I work in a business casual setting, where jeans and t-shirts are a definite no-no, so on weekends I love pulling out my fave denim or a cute dress with sneakers like this!
SHOP MY LOOK:
Hi friends! We’re halfway through the week and I am so happy! Although last weekend was a blast, it will be nice to sleep in and spend the whole weekend with the hubbster. 🙂
Today we’re talking about our body shape, trends, and how to mix both and make a beautiful masterpiece of YOU. Dressing for trends is tricky, because when you love fashion like I do, you want to feel part of (most) trends and get excited to step out of your comfort zone (anyone else get excited to do this? No? Just me?)
Anyway, as you guys know my body has been “under construction” for a year now, and remains a work in progress. I have lost quite a bit of weight, but like all of us, I have “problem areas” and things I like more than others. This particular problem area makes the “cropped” trend tricky, as I’ve never been a fan of showing my stomach (to be fair, I’m not really a fan of anyone showing theirs – unless you’re on the beach of course.) But this cropped trend won’t die, and after swearing it off and deciding it was one I had to file in the “not for Blair” category, I found this baby pink gem on the MAJOR-ly clearance rack at American Eagle. When I say “majorly clearance”, it was $8 down from $49.50. The sales girl said she had one in every color and that it was a deal I “shouldn’t” pass up. AE, give that girl a raise!
I tried the sweater on and honestly wasn’t sure I’d ever wear it in public…but I fell into the “but it’s $8!” trap and purchased it. In the back of my closet it sat for a couple of weeks. I tried it on with a few different bottoms: skirts, flowy skirts, pants, short skirts, jeans..nothing made me feel confident enough to wear it outside, much less on my blog.
Fast forward to last week, I popped in Old Navy (I hadn’t been in awhile actually!), and was generally unimpressed with their current offerings. It’s that weird time between winter and spring when you’re not sure what you’re dressing for, and in Florida, that gets even more confusing! But jeans were on sale, and I typically *LOVE* their “rockstar” cut. I realized they had some new lighter washes for spring/summer and THEN saw they now have them in high-waisted! ::HAPPY DANCE!:: I really enjoy the American Eagle high waisted skinnies but I have all of them (haha), and lately they’ve all been “destroyed”, which I love, but the price point on this Old Navy pair couldn’t be beat. Sure enough, I loved them and they came to live with me.
Coincidentally I feel this look mimics the Pantone “colors of the year”, rose quartz & serenity (see swatches of those gorgeous babies here!) and I L-O-V-E this sweater with these jeans. The jeans come up high enough to hide the parts I don’t want to show the world, yet the loose fit of the sweater allows for JUST A PEEK of your skin to shine through, in the best possible angle (for me anyway). This outfit also gave me allll the 80’s vibes which is in this spring also, so I finished that look with my fave rose gold high-tops, and Ariana Grande/80’s waterspout hair.
The moral of this fashion story is, there will be plenty of trends you 1. aren’t excited about, or 2. aren’t loving on yourself, but for every one of those trends, there will be more behind it you will love! And when all else fails, YOU have to love how you look, who cares what others say is trending! Being yourself is the sexiest, prettiest, most confident thing you can wear. Nothing better.
I’ve linked to similar sweaters and sneaks below, but my jeans and bag are still available, so if you love them they can be yours!
I’m curious to know what your favorite spring/summer trend is? Bohemian? 70’s? 80’s? Flower power? Let me know! 🙂
