As I explained in my previous post, I’m *really* into florals for spring, but I’m trying to find pieces that have a unique spin on the traditional flower pattern and this bow front blouse fits the bill.
It has a really unique color palette of ivories and yellows with a babydoll fit and large bow at the waist.
It’s incredibly flattering! It also closes with 2 buttons in the back, leaving the rest of your back open to the breeze. This is an on-trend feature but wearing a bra can be tricky so I’d recommend stick-on petals for this blouse.
Unfortunately I cannot find this blouse on Forever 21’s website anymore (bummer!) BUT I was recently at my local store and saw it there. I did link a similar style with the exact same print. Shop that below!
I paired this admittedly sexy blouse with…cargo pants! Maybe not something someone would associate with a “sexy/date night” type of blouse but these pants are SO flattering and fun and a great alternative to denim. They have great details and look way pricier than they are. I linked these exact pants below!
My husband and I shot this look on the roof of our building and every time we’re up there we both agree we don’t enjoy it enough. Such a beautiful spot!
SHOP THIS LOOK:
I’m really excited to share this post today because THIS DRESS! This dress.
Y’all, it’s under $30! Do you have Amazon Prime? It ships free in 2 days! You can have it before Easter!(!!!)
I saw this dress on one of my favorite bloggers and when she posted it on instagram I was actually at a hockey game (of course I was) and when I clicked the shopping link to purchase it (at the hockey game, of course) I could not believe it took me to the Amazon site! Of course I have Amazon Prime (never buy anything without checking to see if it’s on Prime first!) so it’s safe to say I “one-clicked” that baby into my cart as fast as I could!
There are several other color combinations but this one is just gorgeous for spring. And y’all the details on this dress are SO GOOD. It buttons alllll the way down, with a flattering smocked detail at the waist. You can button this dress all the way down (as I did) for a perfectly appropriate Easter dress, or unbutton it a little to show some leg! The fabric flows beautifully and the colors are so vibrant and rich. It has a cute little tassel detail at the waist also which you know I love!
In my family we always dressed up for church, and Easter was no exception. That’s carried over into being an adult for me. I fondly remember pretty floral dresses and bows in my hair.
I’m only 5’5 but this dress was the perfect length. If you’re wearing heels it may be a little short depending on how tall you are.
I can’t wait to wear this beautiful dress on Easter but might even use it as a swimsuit cover up after that! Or how cute would it be to unbutton the buttons enough to make it like a long tunic top over denim cutoffs? Swoon! I just fell in love with it all over again.
If you’re a last minute shopper and NEED something for Easter, click the link below to shop this baby asap! If you hurry you’ll have it in time for Easter with free shipping!
Go go go!
Let me know how you’d wear this, and if you love it as much as me!
Coming at you with a new look (that I’m obsessed with) and some more insight into my world!
But first…lace bomber jackets.
Y E S.
My friend Damara spotted this at Anthropologie Saturday and as soon as she showed it to me I knew we had to be bomber twins. So I snagged it too. And at over 70% off (!!), it was a MAJOR steal.
The allover lace detail of this bomber is more cool than stuffy, and the fit is boxy and runs larger for an easy fit over everything from a mini dress to a tank.
I opted to wear mine over more lace! This blush cami has just a peek of skin showing through the lace at the top, and has the most flattering cut. It’s another steal at under $18!
I am already thinking of more ways to wear this versatile piece all spring, but I had to start with white rips.
The “priorities” part of this post is the funny part. This shoot was done at 9:30 Sunday morning. After breakfast at my favorite Tampa spot (Oxford Exchange!) and before TWO different sporting events. In the same day. If you follow me on instagram, you already know that craziness.
If you’re reading this you probably already know how much I love sports so I was certainly not dragged to a matinee baseball game and an evening hockey game in the same day. It was actually an amazing day! But just craziness.
And today? Today I worked 10 hours at my “regular” job and about 2 at my “contracting” job, but I couldn’t stop thinking about an outfit in my head that I reeeeally wanted to bring to life. And thanks to daylight saving time, I came home, changed, went back downstairs with the hubbs and shot another outfit before dinner.
Whew! I sometimes don’t know how you ladies do it, but I’m starting to understand.
When you love something, you just make it happen. and I love this! I love my career! I love remembering me & Beyonce have the same amount of hours in each day!
Bottom line is, there’s time if you make it. God put something in my heart that I can’t and won’t ignore and I’m happy I get to devote some of my life to it! Doing the thing that you can’t sleep you’re so excited to do is just awesome.
Shop this gorge lace bomber below!
Until next time!
It’s been awhile! Kicking off 2017 (in March, oops) with an update post and thought I’d throw in some things you may not know about me!
First off, my career shifted a bit about 2 months ago when my previous practice was sold to a larger group. This obviously changed a lot about my day-to-day and leading up to that things were crazy, so I’m finally feeling like I have time to catch my breath! The new role at the new practice is going great, I’m feeling super excited to come into work everyday and love the work I’m doing. God truly leads you exactly where you’re supposed to go, sometimes ready or not!
And even though I haven’t been blogging, I am feeling more inspired than ever! I feel like my style is evolving and so is my personal relationship with myself. I LIKE myself more lately and feel more open to taking risks and trying new things. And most of all, I feel like I am ENOUGH. Just the way I am!
Which brings me to the 5 “things you may not know about me” section of this post! I wanted to put things out there that have been on my heart lately. I have spent so much energy pushing these things about me that I felt made me “weird”, but now I’m proud to embrace them as me and hopefully I can inspire someone else out there to rock their individuality!
1. I was born with a genetic joint disorder that causes me to have frequent knee dislocations. I am much more susceptible to falls, fractures, injuries, etc because of this. There is no cure for it, and fortunately I have the mildest form. Read more about Ehlers Danlos Syndrome here.
2. Because of EDS, I can no longer wear anything but a flat shoe. It’s too risky to wear something like a heel when you have frequent knee dislocations!
3. I struggled with my weight a lot of my life and recently lost nearly 70 pounds on Weight Watchers. Fashion was one of my biggest motivations for losing the weight, but now I enjoy living a healthier lifestyle. All in moderation, of course. Mini doughnuts and champagne are huge weaknesses of mine! (Balance, right?)
4. I am incredibly competitive with myself. I refuse to let anything defeat me. Recently I was “denied’ by Reward Style which was really hard for me. But honestly after I had my pity party it just made me aware of things I needed to get better at and I’m using it as fuel to be better. Because even if blogging or fashion never became my career, it’s already a huge part of my life. And I truly believe I have a light to shine on others and am excited I get to do it in my spare time.
5. I am incredibly blessed! Yep, that’s it. God is awesome and works in me everyday, causing me to triumph and learn and grow. I know His plans for me are HUGE compared to mine and I see Him working in my life every single day.
I really am excited to work blogging back into my life and hopefully to be an outlet for y’all to come chat fashion and what’s going on in your lives. Fashion is a great outlet for me, an ice breaker when I meet someone new, and something I spend HOURS obsessing over, but I also want to motivate, uplift, and encourage.
I have NO idea how I’m going to melt these things together into Rose Gold Outlook, but I am going to give it my all.
Friends, if you invest in one thing this fashion season, make it a military jacket.
There is SO many things you can do with this versatile piece! Today I styled mine over a basic fit and flare dress (and the coolest kicks maybe ever!) I love this jacket with a tulle skirt (yup!), black skinnies, over a maxi dress you rocked over the summer, or even over a blouse and pencil skirt combo for a business casual work look! See what I mean now? VERSATILITY!
The accessories in this look were so fun. I love the sneakers-with-dresses look and these shoes remind me of soccer cleats a little but I LOVE THEM! I also have the all white version (see previous post) and I’m obsessed! So happy the Superstar’s made a comeback! This olive fringe bag was on major clearance at Target a few weeks ago, and I couldn’t resist. And chokers are EVERYWHERE this fall, except at my house. This is actually a headband! Haha! Work with what ya got, right?
I love the nineties looks that are so in for fall, and this one channels that vibe perfectly. I added a nude matte lip (and resting bitch face..haha!) with straight hair to complete this fall look.
Let me know what you think of this look in the comments below!
Top: Target (old); Shorts: NY & Company (current); Sandals: Target (current)
I am absolutely loving these fun printed shorts! I spotted these a few weeks ago and filed them away in my brain, not even giving them a second look. Then I was checking out some fellow bloggers and the posts I seemed to enjoy most were the ones with fun summer prints! Lemons, watermelon, and now..zebras! 😉
Before we get further into the zebras, I need to rave about these shorts in general. I have never been a huge fan of wearing shorts. Since losing weight I’ve fully embraced summer and have actually looked forward to dressing my body for the hot weather rather than sweating in layers to avoid showing my body. But I’m still new to shorts. Or at least, feeling good wearing them.
These are the NY&Co 4″ shorts, and they come in lots of colors, styles, and fabrics. Just a heads up if you’re looking for a well-made pair of shorts that aren’t TOO short or too long!
Since the shorts are the main focal point of this look, I kept the rest as simple as possible with a button down denim chambray shirt and the most comfortable black gladiator sandals!
To me these shorts have a very high end look without the high end price point. For me, when I’m buying something as trendy as these, I don’t like to spend a ton of money, and these are a great deal! You’ll definitely be noticed wearing these this summer!
*Zebras are also the “mascot” for EDS awareness, a disorder that’s very near to my heart. I have Type A EDS. Learn more about this genetic disorder here.
If you follow me on instagram, you’ve noticed I post an #ootd just about everyday! I’ve gotten lots of questions about where you can shop certain looks, so I took the most requested posts and decided to post them here, with corresponding links to the exact item I’m wearing (or very similar!)
(if you don’t follow me on instagram, why the heck not? Click here to add me!)
Let me know which of these looks are your favorites! It’s hard for me to choose, but if I *had* to, I’d pick the pink sundress or the bathing suit. 🙂
I’m looking forward to adding many more fashion posts in the next few weeks!
See you very soon!
Hi friends! We’re halfway through the week and I am so happy! Although last weekend was a blast, it will be nice to sleep in and spend the whole weekend with the hubbster. 🙂
Today we’re talking about our body shape, trends, and how to mix both and make a beautiful masterpiece of YOU. Dressing for trends is tricky, because when you love fashion like I do, you want to feel part of (most) trends and get excited to step out of your comfort zone (anyone else get excited to do this? No? Just me?)
Anyway, as you guys know my body has been “under construction” for a year now, and remains a work in progress. I have lost quite a bit of weight, but like all of us, I have “problem areas” and things I like more than others. This particular problem area makes the “cropped” trend tricky, as I’ve never been a fan of showing my stomach (to be fair, I’m not really a fan of anyone showing theirs – unless you’re on the beach of course.) But this cropped trend won’t die, and after swearing it off and deciding it was one I had to file in the “not for Blair” category, I found this baby pink gem on the MAJOR-ly clearance rack at American Eagle. When I say “majorly clearance”, it was $8 down from $49.50. The sales girl said she had one in every color and that it was a deal I “shouldn’t” pass up. AE, give that girl a raise!
I tried the sweater on and honestly wasn’t sure I’d ever wear it in public…but I fell into the “but it’s $8!” trap and purchased it. In the back of my closet it sat for a couple of weeks. I tried it on with a few different bottoms: skirts, flowy skirts, pants, short skirts, jeans..nothing made me feel confident enough to wear it outside, much less on my blog.
Fast forward to last week, I popped in Old Navy (I hadn’t been in awhile actually!), and was generally unimpressed with their current offerings. It’s that weird time between winter and spring when you’re not sure what you’re dressing for, and in Florida, that gets even more confusing! But jeans were on sale, and I typically *LOVE* their “rockstar” cut. I realized they had some new lighter washes for spring/summer and THEN saw they now have them in high-waisted! ::HAPPY DANCE!:: I really enjoy the American Eagle high waisted skinnies but I have all of them (haha), and lately they’ve all been “destroyed”, which I love, but the price point on this Old Navy pair couldn’t be beat. Sure enough, I loved them and they came to live with me.
Coincidentally I feel this look mimics the Pantone “colors of the year”, rose quartz & serenity (see swatches of those gorgeous babies here!) and I L-O-V-E this sweater with these jeans. The jeans come up high enough to hide the parts I don’t want to show the world, yet the loose fit of the sweater allows for JUST A PEEK of your skin to shine through, in the best possible angle (for me anyway). This outfit also gave me allll the 80’s vibes which is in this spring also, so I finished that look with my fave rose gold high-tops, and Ariana Grande/80’s waterspout hair.
The moral of this fashion story is, there will be plenty of trends you 1. aren’t excited about, or 2. aren’t loving on yourself, but for every one of those trends, there will be more behind it you will love! And when all else fails, YOU have to love how you look, who cares what others say is trending! Being yourself is the sexiest, prettiest, most confident thing you can wear. Nothing better.
I’ve linked to similar sweaters and sneaks below, but my jeans and bag are still available, so if you love them they can be yours!
I’m curious to know what your favorite spring/summer trend is? Bohemian? 70’s? 80’s? Flower power? Let me know! 🙂
