Today’s post combines 2 of my favorite things: this gorgeous lilac dress & a big ole dose of positivity!
Many don’t realize, but the name of my blog “Rose Gold Outlook” came from a desire to brand my blog around looking at the bright side of each day. (A play on “rose colored glasses”!) There are plenty of negative things we could focus on in the world, and while I’m certainly not suggesting we turn a blind eye on the world’s issues, I *AM* saying that change can begin with something as small as your attitude.
When better than a Sunday night to talk about remaining positive in the face of challenges!?
Keep reading for 5 ways I stay positive daily!
But first..can we talk about this gorgeous dress?! This color makes me so happy!
This lilac lace dress is from The Mint Julep Boutique! I hadn’t shopped their site before and I’m not exaggerating when I tell you I perused it for 2 hours because EVERYTHING is so good and the prices are even better! They have such a great mix of casual staples, trendy pieces, and the best selection of prints and dresses! Oh, and amazing accessories. Check out their site here & you’ll see what I mean! I wanted something sort of different, and when I found this dress I knew that was it! First, anything this color is probably coming to live with me. I LOVE this shade of lavender. It’s flattering on all skin tones and a bit unique. The matching lace details make this dress a true showstopper. The dress itself has a cap sleeve with lace across the chest that then continues onto both sleeves creating a beautiful and super flattering look (especially for someone like me who does not love her arms). It hits me just above the knee and is made of super breathable jersey that also won’t wrinkle! Perfect for all your summer beach trips.
OH and it has POCKETS!!
Best of all, this dress is under $40! I’m typically a 10-12 in dresses and the large size fit me perfectly.
I paired this dress with rose gold accessories (can’t get enough!) Shop my $23 rose gold sandals and my clutch below!
1. BE A BLESSING
When I’m having a bad day it can seem impossible to see the blessings in front of us. In these times, be a blessing to someone ELSE. Realize others need YOUR light and everything in your own life will come into clear focus. Bring coffee to a co-worker. Smile at a stranger instead of looking past them. It doesn’t have to be something big – just intentional.
2. TALK IT OUT
When a problem arises, we tend to overreact and let our emotions get the best of us. The best way I’ve found to counteract this? Have an honest talk with yourself. Will this problem matter in 5 minutes? 5 hours? What can I do to solve this problem right now? This intimate convo with yourself helps you rationalize things and focus on solving the problem.
3. BE OPPORTUNISTIC
This may seem obvious yet impossible in the face of a challenge, but lately I’ve been trying to think of each “challenge” in my life as an opportunity. Without challenges we don’t grow. If you don’t grow, you stay the same. We weren’t meant to stay the same! So sometimes, just take a deep breath and think about what you can learn from the experience to take with you next time.
4. REMEMBER WHO LOVES YOU & LET THEM
Sometimes we get so down on ourselves or we can’t see our way out of a challenge and we forget how loved and supported we are. Turn to the ones that love you unconditionally. My husband, best friend Kandice, and my family all love and support me so much (even when I don’t believe myself!) and those who you truly trust can put things in check for you. I consider myself a strong willed / strong person in general but sometimes, I need to just be. Be with people who not only allow it, but love it.
5. FOCUS ON THE NOW
We have only been given strength for today. Worrying about tomorrow today is counterproductive. Tomorrow you will have a fresh chance at life, a fresh, clean slate. Focus on today. Focus on what you can change, do your best every day. Remember that life isn’t ALL made up of hardships. Focus on the good things. Remember who loves you. Remember you’ve made it through 100% of hard times thus far so…I’d say your odds are pretty darn good. 😉
Thanks so much for reading! Hope you have a great week!
