Today I’m sharing this bright floral look that I will be obsessing over all spring!
This top makes me happy just by looking at it – when I spotted in the store I knew it had to come home with me. It checks off all my “so Blair” boxes: 1. it’s bright pink 2. It’s a punchy floral that gets noticed! (Bonus: it has tassels too!)
This top is more of a “babydoll” style and fits loose all over. I tucked the bottom in a bit to give it a little more shape, but I bought my true size so I could also tuck it into my pencil skirts to make it work appropriate. I also see this top with cutoff shorts for the hottest days of summer!
hahaha. But really. Florals may be “nothing new” but they’re always reimagined and I love the unique graphic nature of this particular top. Old Navy doesn’t always get it right, but they hit a homerun with this one!

Bright prints aren’t just a favorite outfit piece, but also a major part of my everyday life. Lately I’ve had several people message me about my attitude towards life…which sounds strange to say, but it’s true! And beyond the people who actually asked me how I stay so happy and upbeat, I’m sure there are others that are like :enter rolling eye emoji: at everything I post on social.
The truth is, of course I have my own problems and issues, but over the last year or so I’ve shifted the way I look at things that used to make me fall apart. Staying positive is not only a way of life for me, it’s the only way I feel I can really be successful in life. I decided to share the top 5 ways I try to stay positive each day, in the hopes that you can adapt some (or all!) of these things into your daily routine. And if you have any tips for me, please let me hear them!
1. Turn frustrations into Opportunities
-I have about a 30 minute commute to and from work each day, and sometimes with traffic I end up spending over an hour in my car each workday. I used to let traffic get me so worked up by the time I got home I was NOT a fun person to be around. Finally I just realized that the traffic was going to be there anyway, so I had a choice: I could let it put me in a terrible mood, OR I could make the most of it. Now on the way to work each morning I listen to an inspirational devotional that kicks off my day on the right foot. And on the way home? I usually listen to my favorite music, or sometimes take that time to call a friend or family member and catch up. Other times I plan conference calls during my commute home! Might as well be productive while you’re sitting on the highway, right?
2. Be mindful of what you let into your brain
-Think about watching scary movies. If you watch them right before bed, you’re probably going to have a terrible dream about a flesh eating alien. Why? Your subconscious is thinking about all that craziness. On the same note, putting mean spirited/hateful/ugly things into your head does not make for a positive outlook on life. If you’re constantly around negative people, you’ll start being negative, too. If you’re constantly looking in the mirror thinking you’re anything less than perfect, eventually that is all you will see in yourself. Our brains are amazing, but they eventually repeat what they hear the most!
3. When everything is wrong, find something that’s right
-Look, bad days HAPPEN. It stinks when they do, but they do! Just because you live a positive life does not mean you’re naive to life’s problems and unfortunately it doesn’t mean you won’t have your fair share of conflicts in life. Choosing to live with a positive mindset just means you’re not going to let the bad things take over your brain. This applies to big and small things, and I say it with experience: I’ve been on a dream vacation one minute and in the ICU the next. And yes I cried and said “why me!?” more than once. But I never stopped seeing the good things about life, either. Even then! (Like the awesome nurses who ordered me pizza every night in the hospital because I wouldn’t eat anything else!) If you can be positive during the not-so-great times, the good times will be magnified 10x. Promise. Also, magnify others strengths, not weaknesses. This is about being a light to others as well as for yourself! You never know who needs your light the most, and we truly have NO IDEA what others are going through. So just be kind to each and every person you meet. Find the good, even when it’s hidden.
-I’m a true believer in the power of prayer and y’all, Jesus has shown His favor on my life every single day I’ve been here on this earth. The power of prayer changes things! But even if you are not particularly spiritual, meditating on positive thoughts and breathing deeply really does help. Think about this: is this problem going to matter in: 5 minutes? 5 hours? 5 days? Will this be a big deal next week? Next year? How can I solve this problem so I’m not anxious about it anymore? Clear your mind of negativity and that voice that tells you to panic, and turn it around. Yes it is hard sometimes.
5. Stop finding your worth in what others think
-This is a BIG one for me. It’s not to say I don’t care that others like me, find me valuable, find me funny, or like my outfits. Of course I do. Everyone loves to be liked. No one will honestly tell you they don’t care that others don’t like them. And you should always aim to be a kind, generous, loving, giving person of excellence around everyone you meet. What I mean by this is, be your authentic self, and know that it’s ENOUGH. People will talk about you. It’s so much more about them than you. Distance yourself from people who make you feel bad about yourself; they are not true friends. Love yourself first and treat people the way you’d want to be treated. If they do not treat you the same, that’s ok too. Because you find your worth in yourself, not in what others think. If people talk badly about you, especially about things like your looks/outfit/laugh/work ethic/hair color/political party/etc, it’s most definitely their own insecurities, and really not about you at all. This belief has literally changed my life. I know who I am, and I love who I am. And if not everyone sees how awesome I am, that’s on THEM!
